Administrative Solutions:

Global Payroll Solution - Not-for-profit with operations in more than a dozen countries had difficulties managing their unique, complex global payroll operations. Expaticore was asked to oversee and administer payroll and the related reporting in some of the most problematic locations. Our service saved the client significant investment of staff time and direct costs, and has improved employee communications. In response, the organization continues to add additional country payrolls for us to administer.
Expatriate Administration Solution – One of the largest US based hedge funds had a dozen highly compensated expatriates in different locations around the world. They were seeking to improve the service to their assignees, reduce costs and improve compliance. The client tested Expaticore’s services by allowing us to manage half of the assignee population while a Big 4 accounting firm continued to administer the other half. In less than one year, the client assigned all expatriates to Expaticore’s care, based on our performance to the firm and our service to their employees.
International Staffing Solution – European client needed to employ a US citizen to work in the US, but did not want to establish a US entity. Expaticore partnered with a New York staffing firm to hire this employee and attend to statutory requirements. Similarly, a US client wants to hire a UK employee outside of London. Expaticore partnered with a UK staffing firm to hire the employee and attend to statutory requirements, without establishing a business entity in the United Kingdom. This client will call upon Expaticore to set up similar arrangements as they expand throughout Europe.
US Immigration Solution – Non-immigrant staff of US technology firm was growing. The firm did not want to dedicate internal resources to coordinate complex visa activities. Expaticore negotiated less costly agreement with immigration law firm and became the client’s knowledgeable administrator to coach managers and candidates, coordinate with lawyers, track key dates, audit invoices and maintain document trail.

International Assignment Consulting Solutions

    Expatriate Launch – Technology firm needed to quickly deploy a US executive to Asia for a 3 year assignment. As the firm’s first international move, the client sought expert help with structure, policy and tactical complexities. Expaticore conducted an educational session with management and staff groups, facilitated decision-making, prepared a custom policy summary, assignment letter, assignment package, and budget. We helped select service providers, guided payroll administrator, prepared operational summary, assisted with employee orientation and supported HR through the initial process. The company was able to rapidly launch this assignment and now has a sound and sustainable foundation for the future. This Expatriate Launch engagement included assistance with business entity formation, international medical plan sourcing and, like several others, was followed by our On-Call Support.
    On-Call Support – Following Expatriate Launch, a manufacturing process solutions firm was capable of administering their few expatriates but wanted to have an advisor on-call to provide international HR support. A dedicated senior level consultant provided support for assignment package changes, income reporting for tax purposes, and other assignment needs. We also provided counsel on non-assignment international personnel matters and pro-actively set date-sensitive tasks in motion. Knowing that a knowledgeable and flexible resource is available to solve problems (or just lend a hand), as needed, has been a tremendous support to this busy HR team.
    Assignment Policy – A specialty chemical company with years of experience managing an expatriate workforce had an immediate need to formalize policy and procedures for their growing volume of short term assignments. Expaticore quickly prepared a best practice summary of all major components, variables and issues, conducted an educational meeting and facilitated informed decision-making. We then prepared a short-term policy manual that covers different assignment durations, and wrote it in a style and format that complements the company’s international assignment program manual.

Performance Management Solutions – US headquartered non-profit organization with primary operations in Africa wanted to quickly develop a new performance evaluation process and tools. Partnering with the client, Expaticore designed the process flow, communications and an innovative and simple evaluation and goal setting form to be completed by employees and their supervisors. Senior management, HR and employee/manager test group found that the new evaluation facilitates open and candid communications, focuses attention on key imperatives, and is re-engaging the workforce in this important process.

International Payroll Review Solutions – A financial services firm wanted an external, unbiased due diligence assessment of expatriate payroll and tax equalization. Expaticore reviewed files to confirm the correct reporting and tax treatment of company-source income, that tax equalizations accurately reflected pay from all company sources, and to identify any errors and present findings with observations and recommendations for improvement. Our work provided the client with a plan to improve controls, reduce costs and mitigate future risk.
